Not sure what you’re getting at. The highlight of this articles that you can opt out of subsidizing new phones. This is regardless of data plan. Myself I carry the unlimited plan, as I think most people with smartphones would.

If you carry a high end phone with basic calling (and claim WiFi is more than enuf), who are you kidding ? You pay just $1 for anywhere internet per day for next 2yrs is fine considering the fact you spend $150-$200 on unaccounted expenses. Get a smartphone with dataplan to enjoy all the benefits.
